Let Us Hear The Ocean
As part of an initiative to highlight the vital role of the ocean in the global response to climate change, the Oceano Azul Foundation partnered with More Than Stories to create a series of videos featuring inspiring testimonies from people who share a deep connection with the sea.

These videos spotlight the stories of personalities whose lives are deeply tied to the sea, such as marine biologist Dr Diva Amon, bodyboarder Joana Schenker, CEO of the Oceano Azul Foundation Tiago Pitta e Cunha, and master fisherman Pedro Teixeira, among others. Through short and emotive narratives, we delve into the essence of their connections with the ocean and their aspirations for the future. In the end, one message resonates across all testimonies: Let us hear the ocean.
In numbers
Launched in November 2023, the series reached over 16.8 million users across Meta platforms and more than 1.1 million on LinkedIn.
COP28 achieves a historic milestone by adopting a text that clearly acknowledges the importance of the ocean and "coastal and marine ecosystems." This text issues a call to action, urging the global community to actively "preserve and restore" the ocean. This call aligns with the crucial need to move away from fossil fuels, emphasizing nature and the ocean as central components for effective climate action.
Sustainable Production
Given the tight timeline of this project, it was crucial to align the creative concept with calendar feasibility. To achieve this, we opted to anchor the narratives in archival material, sourced either from images provided by the protagonists themselves or from stock footage and other pre-existing filmed content.
In a more specific scenario, for Joana Schenker's video, considering her residence in Sagres, over 340 km away from Lisbon, we made the decision to commission photographer Francisco to film Joana's interview and capture additional b-roll footage needed for editing. This approach allowed us to circumvent the carbon emissions associated with our travel for a shoot that would have spanned half a day.
